When the campaign launched, I knew we would be at least a year before we opened. Other cafes have opened much quicker after gaining funding, but from the beginning, it’s been about making sure I’m 100% confident that Feline Good is ready to open its doors to the public and that everyone will be happy there.
It would’ve been easy to simply choose “a shop” like other cat cafes and open much sooner, however, Feline Good has never been about rushing to get the cafe open. We’ve now found a property in North Cardiff that’s secure, accessible and surrounded by other organisations that focus on wellbeing.
Last week our change of use application on the premises was validated and formally published by Cardiff Council. Over the next few weeks, we’ll await to learn if we can open in our dream location. If all goes well, late spring to early summer sounds feasible. If this doesn’t happen, we’ll keep looking. We will not compromise our cats’ happiness and safety.
In December, five kittens joined Katie and Megan at Feline Good HQ to become the “Magnificent Seven” – the Feline Good cats. They were chosen for their health, temperament, and ability to thrive in a multi-cat household. I couldn’t ask for better cafe cats, and Feline Good has the excellent Mittens Cat Rescue to thank for that and for all of their support throughout this journey.
When the job application form was published, I never imagined we would get 1300 applications! We will stage group interviews once the lease is signed. We are looking to hire both full-time and part-time staff, and if you are interested in applying please visit our Careers Page
As planned, merchandising perks will still be available within the first three months of opening. Food/drink and visiting perks will be delivered digitally, with the option for a physical voucher if your purchased perk is a gift.
I cannot thank our fans enough for all the support and offers of help over the past year. With everything offered from illustrations to plastering and even cat collars, Feline Good is truly a community project. I am so proud of what Feline Good means to so many people and I hope that I will be updating you all in a few weeks time with a location and an opening date.
